Dental Implants in Tower Hill

Serving Tower Hill & Fenchurch Street

At London City Dentists we will always do whatever we can to help you protect and preserve your teeth, however a tooth can still be lost for a range of reasons including gum disease, tooth decay or accident or trauma. The loss of a tooth or teeth can lead to a variety of issues including problems with speech, reduced self-esteem and difficulty chewing.

At London City Dentists we tend to take on a lot of cases in which patients have previously been informed that there is not enough bone to support dental implants.

"The first thing Dr Holness said to me was "I treat people... Not teeth", then went on to prove it and then some. He is an extremely talented dentist but this is not his strong point, I have seen a number of different dentists over the years and none of them come close to matching Wayne's enthusiasm and attention to detail, he genuinely gets excited about doing the best possible job. Great surgery, Great staff and really cool and relaxing music. The trickier the job the better he likes it. You will not find better dental treatment anywhere on the planet."

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a reliable, permanent way of replacing missing teeth. Simply explained, an implant is a metal screw which is placed carefully into the bone of the jaw, onto which a prosthetic tooth can be fixed to match other teeth.

Are Implants Suitable for Me?

Dr Holness or a member of his team will assess your general dental health, individual needs and even your lifestyle to determine whether dental implants are suitable for you. In order to support the implant and crown your bone density and volume of your jaw is key. This is due to the fact that there needs to be a considerable amount of bone tissue in the jaw for this treatment to work.

However, Dr Holness and his team take on a lot of cases in which patients have previously been informed that there is not enough bone to do the treatment, which is why many people come to London City Dentists for a second opinion.

If you are a heavy smoker or drinker, have a compromised immune system, suffer from tooth decay or gum disease and suffer from teeth grinding (bruxism) this treatment may have a higher risk of failure. In some cases, Dr Holness will advise against it altogether.

However, the majority of people we see are able to have dental implants. If not, Dr Holness and his team will advise on your alternatives. You can rest assured that at London City Dentists your best interests are paramount. We have established an enviable reputation for the work we have done with patients from Tower Hill, Fenchurch Street and the City area, so you can feel confident that you are in expert and capable hands.

This is how they work

  1. Dental implants are small metal screws that are placed in the jaw in place of a missing tooth.

  2. Once established, crowns, bridges and dentures can be fixed onto the implants, creating a natural-looking and stable restoration.

Life benefits

When you lose your natural teeth, your jaw bone and surrounding tissues start to resorb or disappear over time. When implants are placed in the jaw, it stimulates the remaining bone to grow and mesh around the metal, along with tiny blood vessels, preventing bone loss.

Retained bone structure prevents the face from acquiring a 'sunken' look.

Implants help restore function so you can eat, chew and bite as usual.

What our patients say

"Despite the COVID restrictions, Wayne and the team were able to see me for an emergency appointment within a few hours of contacting them. Having been in intense pain for a week prior to seeing them, I'm now completely pain free and have a clear treatment plan in place. Fantastic experience, worth every penny."
